Do you see or hear or touch?
Which sense do you connect with most? Is it a picture that you remember easily, or perhaps a sound, or is it the way your body moved when you did something?
We use all of our senses to take in information from the world, but we tend to prefer one more than the others.
In the game below you have to repeat a series of lights and sounds for as long a sequence as you can. As you play, pay attention to whether or not you’re remembering the colour of the lights, the location of the pattern they blink in, or the tune that the combined sounds make. You may also find yourself moving your fingers in imitation of the pattern on the screen as well. These actions will give you some insight as to how you’re processing the information you’re receiving.
If you’re up for an extra challenge, refocus your attention to another modality. So if you’ve been following the colours, now listen to the sounds instead. Or if you’ve been moving your fingers, now try to just use your eyes. This will give your mind a good workout and will train your brain to be more effective in using your non-dominant senses.
Feel free to share how many levels you can reach and how successful you were at changing the way you were processing the information.
Have fun!
If you can’t see the screen above you’ll need to install Adobe Flash Player to play this game. |

HAHA
i was doing so well then my alarm clock went on and it had a very similar ring and I got distracted and lost!! LOL
Hmm… Does that mean you were focusing on the auditory element, or was the alarm just too big of a distraction on all levels?
I’m definitely hearing I think…Hearing has always been the best for me…but it has to be done with focus…If I’m just day dreaming in lecture it’s pointless…
I find that I benefit the most when I hear and write…If I just look at pictures, I forget, or worse, I remember parts and forget other parts and kick myself on the exam!…if I draw a picture, it’s better…if I re-draw it and explain it out loud twice or more, it sticks…
ugh…learning never ends! lol
