What will you have in your last lecture?
Superheroes are people who change lives. Sometimes they do it in big and dramatic ways in front of hundreds of onlookers. And sometimes they do it more quietly, regardless of who’s around.
If you haven’t seen this yet, it’s definitely time to watch The Last Lecture.
Randy Pauche, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given only months to live. He had three small children at the time and was supposed to have his whole life ahead of him. Obviously that wasn’t the case.
Randy’s heroism didn’t come from putting on a brave face as he passed through his numbered days on this planet. His heroism came from helping other people make the most of their lives – especially the ones with hopefully many years to come.
This first video is a reprise of The Last Lecture. It’s a shortened version that gives you a good idea about his message.
The second video is the full lecture and takes around an hour to watch.
Choose the one that works best for you, but if you’ve got the time (or should I say, if you’re willing to make the time) the longer version is definitely the best.
Randy passed away at the age of 48. But the message he left behind may just live on forever.
